Is secure on-site parking available?

The short answer

Knox offers secure on-site parking. Wherever you park, plan your arrival so that you spend as little time as possible in the open with valuables. Book your visit in advance, keep items out of sight in the vehicle, and ask Knox about arrival arrangements if you are bringing something large or heavy, such as artwork, crates or a quantity of bullion.

Why parking matters for a vault visit

Many visits to a vault involve carrying something valuable, whether you are bringing jewellery to a box, collecting bullion or delivering an artwork. The short walk between your vehicle and the entrance is part of your personal security, so it is worth knowing in advance where you will park and how you will be received. Knox Safe Custody's safe deposit box facility sits within its own secure precinct, so Knox controls security across the entire environment.

How to plan your arrival

  • Book your visit so that the team expects you.
  • Keep valuables in a plain bag and out of sight in the vehicle.
  • Avoid stopping elsewhere on the way while carrying valuables.
  • Watch for vehicles or people that seem to follow you, and drive on and seek help if something feels wrong.
  • Avoid discussing your visit with people who do not need to know.

What depends on Knox and what depends on your visit

Knox sets the parking and arrival arrangements at the facility, and these can change. You do not need an appointment to access your safe deposit box during opening hours. Collection of purchased Krugerrands is by appointment only, visits to items in safe custody need at least 24 hours' notice, and cash-in-transit visits must be approved in writing at least 48 hours in advance. Your visit shapes what you need. A quick box visit may need nothing more than a parking space, while delivering crates, artworks or a large bullion purchase may call for a loading arrangement, or a secure collection or delivery instead. You are responsible for packing your items and for your own storage trunk and locks; Knox can arrange a trunk at an extra charge with one week's notice. Large items can be delivered to or collected from Knox Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 16:00.

What to do next

When you book, ask Knox to confirm parking, the entrance to use and any arrival procedure for your service. If you are concerned about transporting valuables yourself, ask whether a secure collection or delivery option suits your situation, and how it would be insured.

How Knox handles this

Knox confirms parking and arrival arrangements when a visit is booked, together with the documents you need for your service. Where you are bringing large or heavy items, Knox discusses whether a loading arrangement, secure delivery or collection is more suitable. Knox does not publish detailed security arrangements, but the team can explain what to expect on arrival when you confirm your appointment.
